Subsequently, he began performing publicly in Istanbul in clubs, restaurants and bars. While continuing to perform Turkish and Arabic music, Ali began pursuing study of the double bass at the State Conservatoire in Istanbul. During his years at conservatory, he concentrated on the study of Western music, and performed with the Symphonic Orchestra..

Once he had completed his education, Ali decided to jump the pond to New York City. There, he quickly began performing, and taught music at The United Nations for five years. During his tenure there, he performed for numerous Turkish heads of state, and shared the stage with other notable entertainers including Yanni, Tracie Spencer, and the Osmond Brothers for such public events as U.N.
